Studio Information & Policies

We want your visit to Holleigh’s Bakehouse & Ceramics to be relaxed, creative and enjoyable. Please take a few minutes to read the information below before visiting or making a booking.

By making a booking with us, you agree to the policies outlined on this page.

Pottery Painting Bookings

  • Pottery painting sessions are booked in 2-hour time slots.

  • Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your booked session. This allows us time to clean and prepare tables between bookings and helps the studio run smoothly throughout the day.

  • Your table is reserved for the duration of your booked session. If you arrive late, unfortunately we may not be able to extend your finishing time where another booking follows.

  • Each booking will be allocated its own table and we will never combine separate groups on the same table.

  • Walk-ins are very welcome where we have availability, although we recommend booking in advance, particularly during weekends, school holidays and special events.

Studio Fee

  • A £3 studio fee per person is payable when booking your session.

  • This secures your table and is separate from the cost of the pottery you choose to paint.

  • Pottery pieces are individually priced, so you can choose something to suit your budget when you arrive.

  • Your pottery price includes the use of our paints, glazing and firing of your finished piece.

Choosing & Paying for Pottery

  • You do not need to choose your pottery before your visit.

  • Simply browse our selection when you arrive, pick the piece you would like to paint and pay for it in the studio.

  • Availability changes regularly and specific pieces cannot always be guaranteed.

  • Once a pottery item has been painted or otherwise used, it cannot be exchanged or refunded.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • We understand that plans change.

  • If you need to move your pottery booking, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to transfer your booking to another available session.

  • Bookings cancelled with at least 48 hours’ notice can be moved to another available date.

  • Bookings cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or customers who do not attend their booking, may lose their studio fee.

  • If we ever need to cancel your booking ourselves, you will be offered a transfer to another date or a refund of any booking fee paid.

Group Bookings

  • Please book for the number of people who will actually be attending the studio.

  • Our tables have set capacities, so we may not be able to accommodate additional guests who were not included in the original booking.

  • If your group size changes, please contact us before your visit and we will do our best to help.

  • For larger groups, parties or private events, please contact us directly so we can discuss the best option for you.

Children in the Studio

  • Children are very welcome at Holleigh’s Bakehouse & Ceramics.

  • Children must remain supervised by a responsible adult throughout their visit.

  • Our team will happily explain how everything works, but parents and guardians remain responsible for the behaviour and safety of children in their care.

  • Please take particular care around pottery displays, hot drinks and other customers’ work.

Pottery Painting

  • You absolutely do not need to be artistic to paint pottery!

  • Our team can explain the process, provide ideas and help you get started, but your pottery is completely your own creation.

  • Please only use the paints, tools and materials provided or approved by the studio on pottery that will be fired in our kiln.

  • Colours can look very different before and after firing, which is part of the magic of pottery painting.

Glazing & Firing

  • Once you’ve finished painting, your pottery stays with us so we can glaze and fire it in our kiln.

  • The firing process involves extremely high temperatures and, although we take great care with every item, ceramics can occasionally behave unpredictably during firing.

  • Small imperfections such as pinholes, crazing, glaze movement or slight colour variation can naturally occur.

  • Very occasionally, pottery can crack, break or be damaged during firing due to faults within the ceramic piece that are not visible beforehand.

  • If your pottery is significantly damaged during the firing process, please speak to us and we will always do our best to find a fair solution.

Pottery Collection

  • Your finished pottery will usually be ready for collection approximately 1–2 weeks after your visit.

  • Please wait until we have contacted you to confirm that your pottery is ready before coming to collect it.

  • Firing times may occasionally be longer during especially busy periods, school holidays or if we experience an unexpected kiln delay.

  • When booking or painting, please make sure we have the correct contact details for you so we can let you know when your pieces are ready.

  • We kindly ask that finished pottery is collected within 4 weeks of being notified that it is ready.

  • If you are unable to collect within this time, please contact us.

  • Items left uncollected for an extended period may eventually need to be disposed of due to limited storage space.

Taking Your Pottery Home Safely

  • Ceramic pieces can be fragile, so please handle your finished pottery carefully once collected.

  • Once pottery has been collected and has left our premises, we cannot take responsibility for accidental damage or breakages.

Food & Drinks

  • Our counter serves homemade bakes, hot drinks and cold drinks.

  • Bakes are made fresh and are available while stocks last, so particular flavours or products cannot always be guaranteed.

  • You are welcome to enjoy food and drinks while painting, but please take care around pottery, paints and other customers’ work.

Allergies & Dietary Requirements

  • If you have a food allergy or dietary requirement, please speak to a member of staff before ordering.

  • We handle a range of ingredients in our kitchen and preparation areas, including common allergens.

  • Although we follow appropriate procedures to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from traces of allergens.

  • Please never rely solely on a product name or display description when making an allergy-related decision — always speak to us first.

Outside Food & Drink

  • As we are also a bakehouse and café, we kindly ask that customers do not bring their own food or drinks into the studio.

  • Exceptions can of course be made for baby food and where something is medically required.

  • For birthday cakes or food connected with private events, please speak to us beforehand.

Breakages in the Studio

  • We completely understand that accidents happen.

  • Please take care when handling pottery pieces and moving around the studio.

  • If an unpainted piece is accidentally broken or damaged, please let a member of staff know straight away.

  • Depending on the circumstances, we may need to charge for pottery that has been damaged after being handled.

Respecting the Studio

  • We want the studio to be a calm, friendly and welcoming place for everyone.

  • Please be considerate of other customers and our team during your visit.

  • We reserve the right to ask anyone behaving in an unsafe, abusive or seriously disruptive manner to leave the premises.

Accessibility

  • We want Holleigh’s Bakehouse & Ceramics to be as welcoming and accessible as possible.

  • If you have any accessibility requirements or would like to discuss how we can make your visit more comfortable, please contact us before your visit and we will do everything reasonably possible to help.

Photography & Social Media

  • You’re very welcome to take photos of your pottery and your visit — in fact, we love seeing your creations!

  • Please be mindful of other customers and avoid photographing or filming people who have not agreed to be included.

  • We may occasionally take photographs or videos within the studio for our own social media. We will always try to make it clear when we are doing so, and you can simply let us know if you would prefer not to appear.

Events & Workshops

  • Special events, workshops and private sessions may have their own booking, cancellation or age policies.

  • Where this is the case, the relevant information will be provided when the event is advertised or booked.

  • Tickets for events may be non-refundable where materials, staffing or preparation have already been committed specifically for that event.

Gift Vouchers

  • Any gift vouchers issued by Holleigh’s Bakehouse & Ceramics must be used within the validity period shown on the voucher.

  • Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

  • Lost or stolen vouchers may not be replaceable, so please keep them somewhere safe.

Changes to Opening Hours

  • Our opening hours may occasionally change due to private events, seasonal opening, holidays or unforeseen circumstances.

  • Any temporary changes will normally be published on our website and social media pages.

Questions?

  • If there’s anything you’re unsure about before visiting, please get in touch.

  • We would always much rather answer a question beforehand than have you worrying about something when you arrive.

We can’t wait to welcome you in for pottery, coffee, cake and a little bit of creative time.
